Abstract

Malaria remains a major global health challenge, particularly in tropical and subtropical regions. The emergence of drug-resistant Plasmodium species has rendered many first-line antimalarial therapies less effective, highlighting the urgent need for new drugs. This article discusses recent advances in the development of novel antimalarial agents, including new chemical entities, repurposed drugs, and innovative delivery systems. It also explores the mechanisms of resistance, targets for drug development, and the future landscape of antimalarial pharmacotherapy.
