Abstract
Hypertension remains one of the leading risk factors for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality globally. Pharmacological therapy is central to the management of elevated blood pressure, particularly when lifestyle modifications alone are insufficient. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the main classes of antihypertensive drugs, including ACE inhibitors, ARBs, calcium channel blockers, diuretics, and beta-blockers. It also explores the emerging therapies and combination strategies to improve treatment adherence and effectiveness, especially in resistant hypertension cases.
