Abstract

As the global population ages, understanding pharmacokinetics and drug interactions in geriatric populations has become a priority in clinical pharmacology. Age-related physiological changes significantly affect drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion, making elderly patients particularly susceptible to adverse drug reactions and interactions. This article explores how aging alters pharmacokinetics and the implications of polypharmacy and comorbidities in older adults. Strategies for optimizing drug therapy, minimizing adverse outcomes, and enhancing therapeutic efficacy are also discussed.
