Abstract

Inhalation drug delivery systems (IDDS) have emerged as a pivotal route for administering drugs directly to the lungs, enabling rapid onset of action and reducing systemic side effects. Technological advancements in inhalers, nebulizers, and dry powder formulations have enhanced drug targeting, bioavailability, and patient adherence. This article reviews the progress made in inhalation drug delivery, highlighting innovations in device design, formulation technologies, and clinical applications, especially for respiratory diseases like asthma and COPD. Furthermore, it explores the current challenges related to device handling, formulation stability, and drug deposition efficiency.
