Abstract
The discovery of new therapeutic agents from natural sources, particularly plant-derived compounds, has played a pivotal role in the development of modern medicine. Plants have been a source of pharmacologically active substances for centuries, and their bioactive compounds continue to serve as templates for the design of new drugs. This article reviews the contribution of plant-derived compounds in drug discovery, highlighting their pharmacological properties, mechanisms of action, and challenges associated with their use. Emphasizing the importance of integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific approaches, this paper outlines the future potential of plant-based drugs in addressing unmet medical needs.
