American Journal of Biomedical Engineering – Policies

1. Submission Policy

The American Journal of Biomedical Engineering publishes original research and review articles in biomedical science and engineering. Submissions must be unpublished and not under review elsewhere. Authors must follow journal instructions and ethical requirements. All manuscripts are submitted through the official online system. Papers that do not meet academic standards may be declined.

2. Peer Review Policy

The journal uses a double-blind peer review system to ensure fair and independent assessment. Each manuscript is evaluated by at least two qualified reviewers. Reviewers examine originality, scientific value, and clarity. Authors may be asked to revise their work. The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision.

3. Publication Ethics Policy

The journal follows recognized ethical publishing principles and COPE guidelines. All contributors must act with honesty, integrity, and professionalism. Plagiarism, data falsification, duplicate submission, and unethical authorship are prohibited. Conflicts of interest must be disclosed. Ethical violations may result in rejection or retraction.

4. Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection tools such as Turnitin and iThenticate. Authors are responsible for originality and proper citation.

Similarity guidelines:

  • Up to 10%: Acceptable
  • 11% – 20%: Minor revision required
  • 21% – 30%: Major revision required
  • Above 30%: Rejected

Confirmed plagiarism may result in article retraction.

5. Open Access Policy

The journal operates under a complete open-access model. All published articles are freely available without subscription or registration. Readers may read, download, and share content. This policy promotes worldwide access to biomedical research. No access limitations are applied.

Authors retain copyright of their published work. By submitting manuscripts, authors grant permission for publication and distribution. All content is released under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY). Proper acknowledgment is required for reuse. Academic and commercial use is permitted.

7. Withdrawal and Retraction Policy

Authors may request manuscript withdrawal before completion of peer review. Withdrawal after acceptance is allowed only in exceptional situations. Articles may be retracted due to plagiarism, ethical misconduct, or major scientific errors. Retraction notices remain publicly available. All cases are handled transparently.

8. Archiving and Preservation Policy

The journal ensures long-term preservation through OJS archiving systems, digital repositories, and regular backups. These measures protect content integrity and accessibility. Published articles remain available for future reference. Preservation practices follow international standards.
