Abstract

The integration of product design and production planning is essential for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving product quality, and reducing lead times. In traditional manufacturing systems, product design and production planning are often treated as separate functions, leading to inefficiencies and misalignments. This paper explores the benefits of adopting an integrated approach to product design and production planning, focusing on techniques such as concurrent engineering, design for manufacturability (DFM), and just-in-time (JIT) production. We discuss the challenges, key strategies, and best practices for integrating these two functions, along with case studies highlighting successful implementation in various industries.
