Abstract
Advanced reaction engineering is the study of chemical reactions with a focus on improving the efficiency, selectivity, and sustainability of industrial processes. By combining fundamental reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, and transport phenomena with modern computational tools, reaction engineers can optimize reaction conditions, design more efficient reactors, and develop new catalysts. This article explores the transition from the theoretical understanding of chemical reactions to practical applications in industries such as petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. The paper also discusses the challenges of scaling up reaction systems and highlights recent advancements in reaction engineering, including the development of novel reactor designs, catalysts, and process optimization techniques.
