Abstract

Process intensification (PI) is an approach in chemical engineering that aims to significantly reduce the size, energy consumption, and environmental impact of chemical processes. By improving the efficiency and effectiveness of chemical operations, PI technologies enable more sustainable, cost-effective, and energy-efficient processes. This article explores various applications of process intensification in chemical engineering, including reactor design, heat and mass transfer, and separation processes. Furthermore, the paper highlights key PI techniques such as microreactors, intensified heat exchangers, and membrane technologies, and their role in the development of cleaner and more efficient chemical processes.
